Continuing the Legacy: Why the Next Generation Joins the Journey
I was recently asked at the “Investors Luncheon – Think Global, Act Global!” organised by Viapar Capital on why I chose to work with my father, Rohit Chanana a first-generation founder. The question made me pause and reflect deeply because the answer isn’t just about business; it’s about everything that’s shaped me, the journey that led me here, and the values I hold dear. After spending nearly four years at Edelweiss Financial Services in public markets, I transitioned to Sarcha Advisors in 2020.
Here are three reasons why I made the decision to join the family legacy:
1. A Role Model Since Childhood
My father has always been my role model. His integrity, vision, and relentless passion for his work inspired me throughout my life. Watching him build Sarcha Advisors from the ground up, I learned that success is about much more than numbers. It’s about impact, purpose, and creating lasting relationships and dosti. His leadership has shaped how I approach both my career and my personal life.
2. Empowered by My Mother’s Strength
My mother has always been the quiet yet powerful force behind everything. While she put aside her own professional ambitions to raise us and support my father, she never once made me feel limited in my own pursuits. She taught me that my worth is defined by my potential, not my circumstances, and that I can achieve anything I set my mind to. Her sacrifices and belief in me have laid the foundation for my ambitions, and I carry her strength with me every day.
3. The Privilege of Carrying On a Legacy
Joining Sarcha Advisors is much more than a professional choice, it’s a privilege. It’s an honor to continue my father’s work and carry forward my grandparents’ name. It’s about creating something that has purpose, building long-term value, and nurturing relationships that will last for generations. I am deeply grateful for the opportunity to contribute to the legacy and to play my part in shaping its future.
I’m honored to be part of this journey, and excited for the future we’re building, together.
