Interactions with Founders – Akash Gupta, Zypp Electric

I had the pleasure of reconnecting with Akash, the inspiring founder of Zypp Electric, whom I first met at the Shining MP Conclave, where we both had the honor of speaking. Akash’s journey, philosophy, and values-driven approach to business left a lasting impression on me, especially in how he engaged with young and budding startups.

I had the opportunity to visit Akash at his buzzing office, filled with positive energy. Despite a traffic jam, Akash’s commitment shone through as he hopped onto a Zypp and made it on time for our meeting—a small but powerful testament to his dedication.

Our conversation was rich and insightful. Here are some key takeaways:

  • Dost Culture: Akash appreciated my practice of addressing everyone as “Dost.” I shared the deeper meaning behind this—how it fosters an immediate, Dil-Se heartfelt connection and builds warm relationships.
  • Rolling Runway: We both agreed on the importance of maintaining a rolling runway for startups to stay afloat and secure, with a safety pot of cash for contingencies.
  • Redefining Wealth: I shared my belief that true wealth lies in Health, Friendships (Dosti), Relationships (Rishtey), Spirituality, Intellectual pursuits, Legacy built on values, and finally, Monetary assets—in that order.
  • Our existence because of Ecosystem: We both acknowledged that our existence is deeply connected to the ecosystem we operate in. It’s essential to nurture relationships that are win-win and foster a culture of mutual support and respect
  • Creating Clones: We discussed the importance of creating ‘clones’ of founders to ensure alignment around values, culture, purpose, and aspirations within the organization.
  • Values Driven Appraisal: At Zypp, they emphasize a values-driven culture and reward behaviors that align with their core value system, TRIBE.
  • CK Prahalad’s Vision for India: We reflected on the insights of Professor CK Prahalad, who championed three guiding principles: Aspiration greater than Resources, Folding the future into the present, and a focus on Next Practices. His values—Imagination, Courage, Passion, Humanity, Humility, Intellect, and Luck—are deeply resonant.
  • Execution and Excellence: I was impressed by Akash’s unwavering focus on building a culture centered on Execution and Excellence.
  • Purpose and Values: I shared my philosophy that a Higher Purpose is the soul, Core Human Values are the heart, Core Business Values are the brain, and Core Operating Philosophy is Karma.

While we briefly touched upon Zypp’s business operations, we agreed to delve deeper in our next meeting and explore the possibility of a podcast together.

Blessings and best wishes to Akash as he continues to build an institution with purpose and values, with potential to positively impact at least a million lives in the coming years.
